“I went to Catholic school in and out. I’m what you call a recovering Catholic. I have many major issues with the church”. JBJ
In June 1982, Jon Bon Jovi recorded a song called “Runaway”. The studio musicians who helped record “Runaway” – known as The All Star Review – were guitarist Tim Pierce, keyboardist Roy Bittan, drummer Frankie LaRocka, and bassist Hugh McDonald. He went to several record companies, including Atlantic Records and Mercury (PolyGram), but they all turned him down. Jon Bon Jovi visited major rock station WAPP 103.5FM “The Apple” in New York City. He spoke directly to the promotion director John Lassman, who accepted the song “Runaway” for inclusion on the station’s compilation album of local homegrown talent. “Runaway” became a local hit.
“I went to a radio station on Long Island in 1982, and thank goodness for me, it was so new that there was no receptionist. So the DJ opened up his booth, and took my tape and listened to it and thought it was a hit song”.JBJ
Along the way, Mercury Records gave Jon Bon Jovi a recording contract in 1983, and to promote “Runaway”, Jon Bon Jovi called up David Bryan who in turn called bassist Alec John Such, drummer Tico Torres. Tapped to play lead guitar was Jon Bon Jovi’s neighbor, Dave Sabo who later formed the group Skid Row. Sabo was eventually replaced by Richie Sambora.
After Jon Bon Jovi claimed he wanted a group name, a friend of Richard Fischer and an employee of Doc McGhee, suggested they call themselves Bon Jovi, following the example of the other famous last name bands such as Van Halen and Dokken. This name was chosen instead of the original idea of “Johnny Electric“.
During his career, he has released two solo albums and eleven studio albums with his band, which to date have sold over 130 million albums worldwide making them one of the world’s best-selling music artists. In addition to his music career.

“You’re never going to see the fat Elvis in me. People I admired like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and John Belushi all died at 27. I’ve got jeans older than that”.JBJ

Young Guns II is a 1990 western film, and the sequel to Young Guns (1988). It stars Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Christian Slater, and features William Petersen as Pat Garrett. It was written and produced by John Fusco and directed by Geoff Murphy.
Emilio Estevez originally approached Jon Bon Jovi to ask him for permission to include the song “Wanted Dead Or Alive” on the soundtrack.
Bon Jovi didn’t feel the songs lyrics were appropriate; however, he was inspired by the project and resolved to write a new song for the film that would be more in keeping with the period and setting. He quickly wrote the song “Blaze of Glory“, and performed it on acoustic guitar in the New Mexico desert for Estevez and John Fusco
Moonlight and Valentino is a 1995 drama film directed by David Anspaugh. The screenplay by Ellen Simon is based on her semi-autobiographical play of the same title.
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times described the film as “very sincere, very heartfelt and very bad . . . Watching it, I felt trapped in an advice column from one of the women’s magazines. I have no doubt many of the heartfelt statements in the film are true (actually, I have many doubts – but never mind). What bothered me was that the story never found a way to make them dramatic, or illustrate them with incidents. The movie is slow, plotless and relentless – one of those deals where you find yourself tapping your watch, to be sure it hasn’t stopped.”
The Leading Man is a 1996 British romantic drama film directed by John Duigan.
“This is the way I look at sex scenes: I have basically been doing them for a living for years. Trying to seduce an audience is the basis of rock ‘n roll, and if I may say so, I’m pretty good at it”. JBJ

“Women have always ruled my life, be it my mother, my wife, my assistant, or my daughter, so I don’t really fight with them. I relinquished control years ago”. JBJ
