Tankard: ” Metal, Futbol, Beers, Girls and … more Beers
Tankard is a thrash metal band from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, founded in 1982
The band has continuously made songs and records in the same style they started out with – fast metal songs in honor of alcohol. Thus they claim to have invented a new genre called “alcoholic metal”.
They are self-proclaimed “Kings of Beer” in honour of the folkloric character Gambrinus.
Their songs are regularly featured at soccer games for the Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt. The band are fans of the team and have written songs and produced videos in the team’s honor

A tankard is a form of drinkware consisting of a large, roughly cylindrical, drinking cup with a single handle. Tankards are usually made of silver, pewter, or glass, but can be made of other materials, for example wood, ceramic or leather.
A 1970’s TV advertising campaign for Whitbread beer features a pub landlord spinning a tall tale to an American tourist, who suspiciously asks: “Are you really Lord Tankard?”.
